Extra-large slabs are heavy and may have sharp edges, so always wear protective gloves. Use single or double suction cups to protect both the slab and the operator. Wipe the slab surface to remove dust or moisture, then position the suction cups securely. For large slabs, use a full handling frame with four suction cups; for smaller slabs, two double suction cups are sufficient.
Installing extra-large porcelain slabs requires care, proper tools, and safe handling. Here’s a professional approach:
Surface Preparation: Ensure the substrate is level, clean, and structurally sound.
Handling Safety: Wear protective gloves. Use suction cups and, for very large slabs, a handling frame to prevent damage and ensure operator safety.
Placement: Carefully position the slab on the prepared surface. Make sure it aligns properly with adjacent slabs and leave the recommended spacing for grout or joints.
Adhesive & Fixing: Use a suitable adhesive or thin-set designed for large-format porcelain. Apply evenly with a notched trowel to prevent voids.
Leveling: Use leveling tools or spacers to ensure the slab is flat and even.
Finishing: Wipe away excess adhesive and let it cure according to manufacturer guidelines. Grout joints as required.
Tip: For extremely large slabs, consider professional installers experienced with heavy-format porcelain to ensure both safety and optimal results.
